What is Sundevil PRIDE?
Sundevil PRIDE is Apple Valley High School’s after school program funded through the 21st Century ASSETs grant.  It operates from 2:00-5:00 Monday - Friday.

Who can attend?
AVHS students in good standing are eligible to attend the programs.   Students are required to show their current AVHS ID card.

What does it cost?
Sundevil PRIDE is free.

How do students sign up for a class?
In most cases students simply show up at the class location and sign in to participate in that activity.  Some classes have limits due to space or supplies (Self-Defense or Open Computer Lab.)  Additionally, some classes like Arcade and Ping-Pong may require students to show a tutoring receipt or a satisfactory weekly progress report in order to be admitted.  For certain classes, like the credit recovery classes, students will be enrolled through the counseling office.

How can I find out if my student is going to a specific program?
The easiest way is to ask your student to get an After School Receipt.  These are available from the adult in charge of the program.  A student may attend more than one activity during the after school program and therefore may come home with more than one receipt.

Where can students go for help with homework?
In addition to tutoring in classrooms, the library is open from 2:00-5:00 everyday and has tutors available to help in every subject.  Students should consult the schedule to see which days tutors are available for specific subjects (French, Spanish, physics, etc.)  Students are expected to follow the library rules and be actively working on an assignment or studying.  Students who are disruptive will be asked to leave.

Where can students use the Internet after school?
For students who have a signed Internet agreement and are in good standing, they may use the computers in the library, or F-3 computer lab Monday-Friday from 2:00-5:00.  Students must present their student ID in order to use the computer.

Is there transportation?
The late bus leaves the B parking lot at 4:00pm Monday-Friday.  It is a limited service bus.

What about a snack?
Students who participate in after school are offered a nutritional snack between 3:15 and 3:45.

What about minimum days?
In general there are modified after school activities on minimum days.
